Land-Use Conversion Altered Topsoil Properties and Stoichiometry in a Reclaimed Coastal Agroforestry System

چکیده
Reclaimed coastal areas were mostly used for agricultural purposes in the past, while land-use conversion was initiated recent decades eastern China. Elucidation of effects on soil properties and stoichiometry is essential addressing climate change ecological conservation. In this study, five types a reclaimed area chosen to compare differences stoichiometry, which comprised paddy, upland, upland-forest, forest, vegetable garden, with age about 100 years. The results indicated that these significantly differed water concentration, pH, bulk density, salt organic carbon content, total nitrogen phosphorus, as well C:N, C:P, N:P ratios. Positive correlations found among carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus; concentration. Total phosphorus contents main factors shaping topsoil types. Contents paddy garden soils higher than upland upland-forest soils, concentration showed opposite trends. Forest demonstrated intermediate values most properties. And highest C:N occurred C:P lowest upland-forest. respectively. stoichiometric characteristics presented narrow range ratio, C:N:P averaged 48:3:1 similar average Chinese cropland soils. Rotations including legume, use fertilizers, appropriate fertilization strategies suggested improving management.

Forest to reclaimed mine land use change leads to altered ecosystem structure and function.
The United States' use of coal results in many environmental alterations. In the Appalachian coal belt region, one widespread alteration is conversion of forest to reclaimed mineland. The goal of this study was to quantify the changes to ecosystem structure and function associated with a conversion from forest to reclaimed mine grassland by comparing a small watershed containing a 15-year-old r...
متن کاملLand cover land use mapping and change detection analysis using geographic information system and remote sensing
Land cover/land use categories are relevant components in land management. Understanding how land cover/land use change over time is necessary to assess the consequences of humans and natural stressors on the earth’s environment and resources. The aim of the study was to map and monitor the spatial and temporal change in land cover/land use for the periods of 1977, 1991 and 2016 and to predict ...
متن کاملRemote sensing and modeling of topsoil properties, a clue for assessing land degradation
Semi-arid regions are under high pressure to supply the required food for their rapidly-increasing populations. This, together with the harsh climatic conditions and changes in land use accelerates land degradation processes, which eventually leads to yield reduction. Conventional sensor systems provide data in only a few spectral bands, which can be, to a given extent, used to model the reflec...

متن کاملMining Coastal Land Use Sequential Pattern and Its Land Use Associations Based on Association Rule Mining
Research on the land use of the coastal zone in the sea–land direction will not only reveal its land use distribution, but may also indicate the interactions between inland land use and the ocean through associations between inland land use and seaward land use indirectly. However, in the existing research, few have paid attention to the land use in sea–land direction, let alone the sequential ...
